About
Welcome to LiveOnCash Blog! Over the last fifteen years I have written articles and a book about living a cash-based lifestyle. Those were one-way conversations. This blog gives me a chance to exchange ideas on the mechanics and benefits of living a cash-based lifestyle and related topics.
My wife, Rosa, and I have lived a cash-based lifestyle for twenty-eight years and have been totally debt-free since we paid off our mortgage in 1989 at age 36. We retired in May of 2009 at age 56.
We are not a financial advisers nor are we involved in the financial services industry. I enjoyed a thirty-five year career in direct sales; twenty-one of those years were spent in self-employment. My wife worked as an accountant and office manager for a number of years, then returned to college to complete her degree, and subsequently, taught high school for twenty-five years.
I don’t know it all. I made plenty of mistakes in my early years and still do. Many of them will be familiar to you, I am sure. It wasn’t until I met and married Rosa that I began to handle my finances responsibly.
We have lived a cash-based lifestyle through good and bad economic times, the raising and supporting of a family, the purchase of a house, career changes, life changes, and now into retirement. From those experiences, I share what has worked for us and what hasn’t. Take what makes sense to you and give of yourself through your comments.
